Baltimore is an area that is in great need of provision and efforts of the local church to spread the gospel and offer a help to the community on a continual basis. Operation FEED Baltimore is an evangelistic operation for the River Church Baltimore, that meets the physical and spiritual needs of the region and community.
Baltimore ranks 87 out of the 100 largest U.S. cities in terms of median house- hold income. Approximately 2 in 10 Baltimore City residents live below the poverty line (22.9 percent) and approximately 4 in 10 families with children live below 150 percent of the poverty line (39.5 percent). Nationally, an average of 1 in 10 residents live below the poverty line (12.4 percent) and approximately 3 in 10 families with children live below 150 percent of the poverty line (29.3 percent).
In June 2024, Maryland's unemployment rate increased from 2.7% to 2.8%, while the national rate rose from 4.0% to 4.1%. Of the 3,214,973 civilian workers in Maryland, 3,126,542 were employed and 88,431 were unemployed.
In Baltimore:
• Nearly 1/2 of residents live below 200% of the federal poverty line1/4 of residents live at or below the federal poverty line
• More than 1/2 of poor residents live in deep poverty, meaning they live at or below 50% of the federal poverty line
• More than 1/3 of children in Baltimore City live in poor households
Every week, we receive phone calls, emails and walk-ins of people in need of food for themselves and their families. RCB is PRIME area to launch the RCB FOOD PANTRY, being right next to the light rail.
Operation FEED Baltimore is a mission that will launch the Food Pantry and continue our outreach work into the city at a grander scale and will help us reach many more souls. Our food pantry launches November 3rd.
